The staff at SFWL are committed to helping patients reach their weight loss        goals. Along the way, however, we work hard to instill healthy lifestyle habits      that will help our patients maintain their achievements lifelong.

Meet the Staff at
South Florida Weight Loss & Wellness
Dr. Gerardo Valdes, Medical Director at South Florida Weight Loss & Wellness

Dr. Valdes graduated medical school from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida.  In Newark, Delaware he completed a one year residency in General Surgery at Cristiana Care Hospital. Early into his surgical training he decided to divert the focus of his education towards general medicine, where he then completed his Internal Medicine training at Cleveland Clinic Hospital.  Dr. Valdes has a unique perspective into the treatments for weight loss having both a medical and surgical background in medicine.

Having suffered from obesity for many years himself after completing his medical training, Dr. Valdes is sympathetic to the struggles of his weight loss patients. He is a strong believer that obesity is a chronic medical problem that needs ongoing treatment and support, for most patients, in order to maintain their new found healthy ideal weight.

Now Medical Director at South Florida Weight Loss & Wellness center, he has combined all the knowledge he has gained over the last 20 years in the medical field, as well as the experience of treating thousands of patients, to help individuals achieve their weight loss goals.
